About the Kansas Apprenticeship Council
The role of the Kansas Apprenticeship Council (KAC) is to seek voluntary management in the promotion of joint and unilateral apprenticeship programs to encourage and provide support to businesses and workers that establish and engage in voluntary apprenticeship.
The KAC identifies the fundamentals of apprenticeship to be recommended, which, at a minimum, must comply with the fundamentals as set forth by the National Apprenticeship Program by the authority of the Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship. The KAC, governed by K.S.A. 44-661 and 44-662, works jointly with representatives of the Kansas Department of Commerce, Kansas Department of Labor, Kansas Board of Regents, Kansas Department of Education, and other agencies and organizations, both public and private, who are concerned with employment and training in the business and industrial sector.
The KAC is recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship Training, Employer and Labor Services. The KAC plays an important role in the registration process of all Registered Apprenticeship programs developed in the State to ensure all Registered Programs align with State and Federal guidelines pertaining to Registered Apprenticeship, and makes recommendations to register and issue certification of registration for each program
